Project Title: LEVERS

Rhayne Vermette’s film “STE. ANNE” had its world premiere at Berlinale with a nomination for “Best First Feature” and will premiere in North America at TIFF this September.. We are now casting for her next project which will be an exploratory concept short that will lead to a feature film production in 2022.
This is an art film which prioritizes character over experience but some “on camera” experience or training is preferred. We are not seeking actors but rather individuals who can connect to the story and bring their own interpretation to the project. We are seeking sincere individuals who are open to exploration and collaboration. Bi/multilingual is also an asset. Manitoba residents only. APPLY BY AUGUST 8th!!!
THE ARTIST – Male or Female, 35-55 years old, Métis, bilingual is an asset.
Character description: an abstract painter makes a public artwork of a famous figure (which we will never see), the sculpture is rejected by the public and the artist has to (resentfully) re-do the work.
MAGICIAN – Male, 40 – 60 BIPOC
Character description: a groundskeeper for a cemetery which happens upon the marks of a super natural phenomenon in the cemetery. This role has no lines but requires character to strongly emote with their eyes and face. *may be a recurring, more developped role in 2022.
NEIGHBOURS & HUNTERS – Métis and Franco-Manitoban men and women. Couples may apply Ages 30-75.
Various characters to create a community surrounding the lead characters.
